Open Positions

In the NMR service, specialists measure the more demanding type of NMR experiments such as 2D-NMR, exotic nuclei, NOE difference etc. on behalf of all scientists in the institute.

The instruments include BRUKER DRX500, three-channel-DRX-500, AV600 and AVIII600 with cryoprobe.

The staff of the NMR service is in charge of maintaining the software and hardware of all NMR spectrometers including those of the open access system.

Submitting samples

The office of the NMR Service is located in room HCI D314. Tel. 2 2933 or 2 6856. Yellow forms for submitting samples are available there. First time users may load down a short introduction (PDF format) or talk to the staff directly.

Measurements for customers outside the ETHZ are possible, but the samples from the institute have priority. Interested parties please contact the staff about terms and rates.

Consulting on optimal NMR strategies

Contact our staff if you are not sure about the best NMR technique for solving your structural problem.
On demand, we also offer help with the interpretation, in particular of 2D and NOE spectra.
People who regularly need advanced NMR methods for their research may be interested to follow
the course Structure elucidation by NMR.

Output

All spectra are plotted in standardized form on A3 paper, together with parameters.
Spectral data are copied to a server from which they can be transferred to PCs and Macs in the research groups for remote processing and pasting into documents.

All spectra acquired in the NMR service are archived on DVD for a period of ca. 5 years.
